On Monday, Roland Israelashvili almost ended one of poker's longest streaks.

The longtime WSOP stalwart started Day 3 of Event #25: $3,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em fifth in chips with just nine opponents between him and his first bracelet.

The Streak Continues

That first bracelet has been a long time in the making. Coming into this event, Israelashvili had amassed 229 consecutive bracelet event cashes without a bracelet, a record no one is even close to matching.

Israelashvili made it to the final table of six in Event #25, and started the final table third in chips, but was ultimately eliminated in fifth place, bringing his streak to 230 events.

Deep Dive Into the Streak

The Decades-Long WSOP Streak That Almost Came to an End (3)

In total, Israelashvili has 502 overall cashes (including the WSOP Circuit) but has made several deep runs in the years leading up to the at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP).

Last year, he had three top-ten finishes at the WSOP Europe at King's Casino, Rozvadov, including a third-place finish in Event #2: €550 Pot Limit Omaha 8-max for €29,100.

He followed that up with a ninth-place finish in the WSOP Paradise $1,500 Millionaire Maker for $50,000. And now another final table at the Horseshoe Las Vegas.

Israelashvili at the WSOP

Israelashvili's first cash at the WSOP came in 2005 in the $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em. He's never finished higher than third in any bracelet event, and he's only reached nine final tables out of those 230 cashes.

However, he's far and away the overall WSOP related events cashes leader. He's even closing in on Negreanu's record for most cashes in bracelet events.

Could it Come in Mixed Games' Biggest Prize?

With cashes in almost all poker variants, Israelashvili plays from the lowest stakes all the way up to high stakes.
In all live tournaments — not just the World Series of Poker — Israelashvili has just over $4.5 million in cashes, according to The Hendon Mob, dating back to 2005.

His biggest score ever came at the 2012 World Series of Poker was for $317,882, a fifth place finish in the $50,000 buy-in Poker Players Championship.

The 2024 Poker Players Championship gets underway later this month on June 23. Can he finally break the streak in the most prestigious mixed game tournament of all?
