Owens' Restaurant is a seafood-centric restaurant located in the heart of downtown Nags Head, NC. The restaurant has been in operation for over seventy years and prides itself on preparing dishes with the freshest seafood available. The upscale atmosphere and history make this a must-visit for anyone visiting the Outer Banks.

Wish we had known to wear something nicer than jeans and a hoodie. Dress more like Sunday best. Food was fabulous 👌 very large portions, but they do offer small plates. The cheese and crackers were a little out of place in a nice restaurant as this.

Very good food, service was a little hectic, but to be fair we had a large party and separate checks. Our waiter was really nice, but with all the kids and separate checks, he seemed to be in over his head. Probably not his fault. Great steaks, better seafood. Very nice menu with great selections. Really great dessert menu.Cheers

Very pricey but absolutely delicious. We got escargot as an appetizer and I got the salmon entree - best salmon ever! An old-fashioned, fancy atmosphere.

An exceptional restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere, that has been in business for 75 years. Our Hatteras seafood combo and mixed grill were delicious. The desserts looks good, but we were too full from dinner to try one. Service was excellent. There were many beautiful artifacts from years gone by.

One of our all-time favorite restaurants ever. Have been dining here for years and years. Last visit was August 4, 2022. Sign on door asked us to be patient as they were short staffed. Our waiter, Noah, was phenomenal. Very, very attentive and polite and answered all of our questions with ease. Per usual, the food was incredible. I ordered the petite filet Oscar and had the Godiva chocolate mousse for dessert. It was all excellent.

Despite visiting the Outer Banks for over 50 years, this was my first time at one of the oldest restaurants here. The atmosphere and decor are outstanding. The food was excellent, as was the service. There is lots of maritime memorabilia in the lobby area. Allow some time to check it out. I wore shorts and a tee shirt, but business casual would have been more appropriate.

This is another amazing place to have a delicious dinner in a classic OBX environment! We’ve eaten dinner here countless time, we’ve enjoyed the romantic dining area downstairs & we enjoyed listening to the live music in the upstairs area! The dinners are absolutely scrumptious and very filling & the desserts are amazing and hard to pass up! We always enjoy appetizers, a hearty dinner, and dessert every time we come! The staff is so friendly, the atmosphere is very unique with the history of what the OBX is all about. There’s a reason Owens’ has been here for as long as they have! Don’t miss a chance to treat yourself!

Food and drinks were good! We had a new waiter and our party was large however the service was very slow and server not very knowledgeable about menu, we were the last guests to leave restaurant due to waiting long periods of time between ordering food to dessert, but besides that hush puppies were delicious, they serve complimentary wrapped crackers and cheese in a basket, bread would have been a better option imo. Main courses were delicious as were the desserts ample parking

Very nicely decorated for the holiday. Was able to accommodate a party of 8 last minute and our server was so attentive and friendly. Food was great.

Fantastic, but prices seem about 10% too high all around.I’ve eaten here twice, once in 2023 and once in 2024. The experience was similar each time, so the restaurant is consistently good. The service is polite and kind. The drinks are tasty. I recommend the bouillabaisse. Portions are large enough to where I never tried the dessert. Substitutions for coleslaw were lacking.I will happily return next year.

I had a ceasar salad to start that was ok. A nice portion; big for a side salad. I, also, had the crab remick, which is crab meat in a creamy sauce, covered in melted mozzarella. It was pretty good. For dessert I had the brownie Sunday that was huge. The brownie wasn't warm, and it was pretty hard. Overall, a decent meal.

Wonderful place to dine with a lot of history and charm. The hostess and wait staff were great and we had a really good experience. We went here based upon a friend in group had come here as a child so why not go down memory lane. The setting is amazing and you'll get lost in all the historic stuff. Really neat for someone who hasn't been there before. The food overall was really really good. My steak was tasty but I was really surprised how small the shrimp were on on the shrimp co*cktail and the asparagus was tough. The deserts were fantastic and really capped off a good meal. My wife enjoyed scallops and shrimp and seemed to really like the dish. The price point for Owen's is on the high side so I'm judging on that comparison to other similarly priced places. We had a great time, many thanks.

Very, very nice, classy restaurant. Excellent menu. Great staff. Old-fashioned, high class restaurant reminiscent of the 50s and 60s. Wide range of things to order. Absolutely the best hush puppies I've had in many years (I even got some to go because they were so good!). We ordered the Flash Fried Calamari - perfectly crispy, light crust with juicy, tender calamari. Next, we had the house salad. Cool, crisp, with homemade dressing - very fresh. We ordered the 10 oz Prime Rib with asparagus. It was cooked to perfection and was absolutely delicious. No room for dessert but they looked amazing. It's a bit pricey but worth it. Next time I'm back in the Outer Banks, I'll definitely come back. Highly recommended!

This is the perfect restaurant if you want to spend half your vacation in a super dark, dusty building. The decor is cool which is good because you're never leaving. I am pretty sure time zones changed while we were there and had a couple birthdays. The good news is I was able to write a novel that matches War and Peace in length. It felt similar to a prison although we had the option to leave, the notion that we would eventually get food seemed realistic. Foolish as we were, we stayed and got older. The brunch wasn't bad but definitely on the chilly side which does make sense considering we ordered 5 days ago. And not only could you hear every table in there commiserating together but also every single employee was complaining simultaneously. Terrible experience and I can not fathom how it has been open for 80 years. I still tipped 20 percent.

Service was probably the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Took 20 minutes to simply get our drink order. Took 70 minutes for our food to come. My table as well as the others around me were very frustrated with our waiter. Our drinks were not refilled. The chicken pasta was really good as well as the pineapple bread pudding. The seafood was average. Will not be coming again. The food is NOT worth the wait NOR the price. Very frustrated. Spent well over 2 hours here. He did not deserve a tip but we tipped 20% anyways.

We found this place by chance. We are staying in Nags Head, literally right across the street. I looked them up online first and decided to try them. The atmosphere is very neat. Oceanic, but warm and cozy. I definitely would love to come back. The food was delicious. The hushpuppies were great, and I ate the prime rib which was fantastic. The service was excellent, and the wait for our food wasn't very long at all. Overall a great place, and when we come back and stay elsewhere, it's definitely worth a drive to eat here. I really really like this restaurant.
