Barry arrived at Caitlin's apartment early to pick Birdie up. It had become a routine to pick her up every morning and have breakfast together. He vibrated the handle and walked in. He found both Caitlin and Birdie asleep, cuddled up together. Since he didn't want to wake them up he went out and bought some breakfast. He went back to the apartment and set everything up.
He was making coffee when Caitlin woke up and walked into the kitchen.
"Barry?" She asked yawning.
"Hey." He smiled.
"What are you doing here?"
"I was coming to pick Birdie up cause usually she's awake by now but I arrived and saw you were sleeping so I didn't want to wake her up. She hasn't been sleeping well."
"Yeah." She nodded. "How are Nora and Iris?"
"They're fine." He said staring at the floor.
"Barry?"
"Yeah?"
"Is everything okay?"
"Iris and I have been fighting a lot recently."
"Is it because of...?" She said looking at Birdie who was asleep on the couch.He nodded. "She just doesn't understand that she's my kid too. She doesn't want her at our house and now she complains when I come have breakfast with her every morning too." He sighed.
"Have you talked to her and told her how you feel?"
"She won't listen to me and I'm tired of trying to talk some sense into her."
"Don't talk like that. I'm sure you'll work everything out."He looked at her and she smiled softly.
"What?" She asked.
"Nothing." He said shaking his head.He turned around and proceeded to make the coffee. He made some hot chocolate for Birdie who woke up a few minutes later.
"Good morning Bird." He smiled.
"Dad." She beamed. "Hi."
"Hi. Sleep well?"
"Yeah." She nodded.
"Well I brought some breakfast so what do you say? Should we eat?"
"Let me get ready first and then we can eat."
"Okay." He nodded.She got ready in a matter of seconds and walked back into the kitchen.

"Let's wait for Cait."She nodded and ate a piece of bread while Caitlin came. After she did, they started eating and talking.
"So what are you guys doing today?" Caitlin asked.
"I actually have to go to CCPD." Barry frowned.
"Can I come with?" Birdie asked with hopeful eyes.He hesitated but couldn't resist Birdie's puppy dog look.
"Fine. But you do exactly as I say."
"Yes sir."
"Don't call me sir."
"Yes ma'am." She smirked.He rolled his eyes and Caitlin smiled.
"What are you doing Caitlin?" Barry asked.
"I'm gonna clean up the apartment a bit before going back to work tomorrow."He nodded taking a bite of his pancake.
"Where am I staying tonight?" Birdie asked.
"Me." Barry answered. "My apartment."
"Yes!" She screeched.
"Why are you so excited?" Caitlin chuckled.
"Cause, I have a lot of Star Wars LEGO in my room over there." Birdie smiled widely.
"Ah. I get it." She nodded.
"Okay. Let's go Birdie. We're gonna be late."
"Oh okay." She said standing up. "Bye Caitlin." She said hugging her.
"Bye hon. Have a great day." She said hugging her back. "Both of you." She said looking at Barry.
"Thanks Cait. You too." He smiled kissing her forehead.She smiled and started to clean as soon as they left. Barry and Birdie went to Barry's lab and spent the whole day looking through cases that were unfinished and scattered everywhere.
"Do you ever clean this place?" Birdie asked looking around.
"Don't have time to."
"Time isn't a matter for you." She said. "I take it back. It is. You're always late."He nodded and mumbled "yeah". Birdie sped around the lab and cleaned everything up in an hour.
"There we go. That looks much better." She smiled looking proud. "I'm hungry."
"Go buy some food." He said smiling.
"Where's the cash?" She asked raising an eyebrow.
"Here." He said giving her some money. "Buy some pizza."
"Alright." She said walking out.After she made sure no one saw her, she sped off and went to buy some pizza. She came back to find Iris and Barry arguing in his lab.
"Look Barry, I'm sorry but you have to choose. It's Birdie or me and Nora."
"You can't just make me choose Iris. She's my daughter too. It's not fair to her or me. I'm a good husband and a good dad. I'm always there when you need me. Sure I'm not always at home but I have a big responsibility and it's my daughter. I can't abandon her again."
"You have until tonight to get your priorities straight."Birdie hid while she walked out and then walked in and hugged a sobbing Barry.
"Dad, it's okay if you want to save your marriage with Iris. I'll be fine. You should have a little vacation with them and go somewhere for a while. Maybe that'll help you reconnect."
He sighed and shook his head. "It's much more than that baby." He said kissing her forehead. "Don't worry about it."
"It's my fault she's mad at you." She said wrapping her arms around his waist.
"It's not sweetheart." He said brushing her hair. "Let's just forget it for now okay?"
"Okay." She nodded.They sat down and ate the pizza while listening to music. After the day was done, they went to Barry's apartment. Birdie grabbed a guitar Barry had laying around the living room and started playing Butterfly Fly Away.
At the end Barry was all teary eyed and dried his tears. "You made me cry." He chuckled.
"Sorry." She shrugged.
"It's fine. You are a very good singer."
"Thanks." She smiled.
"I'm sorry none of that ever happened Birdie. I promise I'll be there for you hon."
"It's okay dad. I love you. Forever and always." She smiled.He smiled and hugged her. After watching tv for a little while, Birdie got ready for bed and fell asleep in her room. Barry went up to check on her and since she was asleep, he turned on the little fairy lights in her room, turned off the lights and pulled the blankets over her.
"I love you baby girl. Forever and always." He said kissing her forehead.
